Mintek's graceful, slim, and lightweight DTV-233 combination 23-inch widescreen LCD TV and full-function DVD player is suitable for placement anywhere in your home or office. DVDs slide easily into a side slot for space-efficient integration. Just 3.4 inches thick without its stand, you can even mount the DTV-233 on the wall, picture-style, using an optional wall-mount bracket. It's suitable for use as a PC monitor, too.All DVD functions are accessible via the supplied remote control, and the unit plays DVD-Video, CD, CD-R, CD-RW, MP3 CD, MPEG-4 video, and JPEG digital photos stored on recordable CD. A combination SD (SecureDigital), MMC (MultiMediaCard), and Memory Stick memory-card reader is perfect for viewing your digital photos fresh out of your camera and right on the TV screen.
LCD screens offer a number of benefits over CRT monitors and televisions, including general ease of use, freedom from eye strain (no screen flickering or radiation emissions), quiet operation (no high-pitch "flyback" noise, an issue with CRT TVs), accurate image geometry (no curvature distortion or susceptibility to magnetic interference from, say, speakers), long screen life (with no risk of image burn-in), space savings, and light weight/easy positioning. They also tend to be cheaper and, to some eyes, slightly more natural looking than their plasma flat-panel counterparts, which usually "spec" higher (higher brightness, higher contrast ratio).
The set offers 1,280 x 768 native pixel resolution with impressive ratings for both contrast (450:1) and brightness (450 cd/m2). Its wide-angle clarity extends 176 degrees vertically and horizontally, so the screen is easy to see from just about anywhere in the room. Mintek's Digital Pure Video Engine analyzes audio/video signals and ensures that the display reaches high-definition levels fast while addressing 6 key aspects of video: detail, color, contrast, dynamic (response time), brightness, and levels of shading.
The set's stereo speakers are driven by an ample 6 watts each. Connections include 1 each composite-video, high-definition component-video, coaxial RF, and VGA PC (15-pin D-Sub). The set also includes a USB interface for a direct digital connection with your digital camera and digital camcorder.

This is one of the biggest purchasing mistakes I ever made, and I urge you not to make the same one. I bought this TV several years ago, and for awhile I was more or less happy with it. Then, the picture began to degrade and I had trouble getting the DVDs to play. It finally got to the point where the picture would be there for about 30 minutes, then it would get all stripy and then go black. So, I took it to a TV repair shop several weeks ago. In the intervening time, they have been unable to find ANYONE who carries parts for this TV! Isn't it amazing in this day and age that there would be absolutely NO support for a product? Well, that's the case here, and I'm stuck with an expensive, useless POS. They're apparently out of business, and screw all of us who took a chance on their product! Class action suit, anyone???

Best TV I've ever owned. Colors and contrast is beautiful, and doesn't do that stupid screwed up ratio thing that other TVs do. The picture probably looks as good as my friends 4000 dollar Panasonic.

I have had this TV/DVD Player for about 1 1/2 years. Overall, it is a great TV...BUT...when i started having a problem with the DVD player, their first point contacts in Customer Service were nice & helpful...BUT...then when they couldn't help me anymore, they referred me to someone who could get it fixed or replaced for a fee (not covered under warranty anymore). THIS PERSON NEVER RETURNED ANY ONE OF THE 6 CALLS I LEFT...WHY???
Let me make sure that you know, it is a good TV & very functional except that you can't really change out the remote since most other remotes are not compatible with Mintek...BUT...i like the TV, it's just a shame that right now it is just sitting in my garage collecting dust.

DVD stopped working a week after warranty was up. No one ever answered the customer service line. Do not buy this TV....it is a waste of money; spend the extra money and buy one from a known brand with a customer service department

This is the worst TV I have ever purchased in my life. Without using the remote, the unit goes into overdrive searching for the source it prefers -- tv, dvd, pc, etc. -- and you cannot watch television. When I have called to get help with this, I have been thwarted at every step. I would recommend that no one buys anything from this company.
