Amazon.com Product Description

Now you can work, play, and enjoy a wealth of digital entertainment--including vivid DVD movies and video feeds from DTV receivers--from a compact and stylish flat-panel television. Initial's DTV-262 combination LCD TV and slot-loading DVD player doubles as a computer monitor. The set's 26-inch, anti-glare screen is configured in a 16:9 aspect ratio to closely match the original frame dimensions of your favorite feature films. A handy media port accepts streaming media via USB 1.1 connection and also reads image files off SD, MMC, and Memory Stick flash-memory.

The DVD player offers shuffle and program play modes, and it spins JPEG image CDs and Kodak Picture CDs in additional DVD-Video discs. Additional DVD features include zoom/shrink playback (2x, 3x, 4x; 1/2x, 1/3x, 1/4x) fast forward and reverse playback (2x, 4x, 6x, 8x, 16x, 32x), frame-by-frame playback, and a screen saver/power-saving function. The player's firmware is upgradeable.

Connect additional components via 2 composite-video inputs or the unit's HD-compatible component-video inputs. For your PC, you get a choice of either standard RGB analog (15-pin D-Sub) or cutting-edge, direct-digital DVI-I. Composite- and S-video outputs let you pass a video signal to a digital video recorder or VCR.

The set's built-in left/right speakers are powered by 6 watts each. A digital-audio output passes both Dolby Digital and DTS 5.1-channel surround signals to compatible processors and multichannel speaker systems so you can enjoy spacious, enveloping surround sound with your movies, concerts, and DTV programming.

There's standard analog RCA audio outputs, too, which let you take advantage of the unit's ability to decode audio from HDCD (High-Definition Compatible Digital) compact discs. HDCD is a 20-bit encoding method used on many commercial CDs to deliver better sound than is possible through standard CDs. A headphone jack affords private or late-night listening without disturbing others.

 "Bad Exerience" 2008-07-06
By Donald E. Maunder (Fort Worth, Tx.)
The TV which was received was not the one pictured in the Amazon ad nor

described in the description. The TV received had speakers underneath and not on the sides. The ad noted that the TV had frame by frame capability which the one received did not. Discount Jungle offered a $20 refund or to take it back at my expense (over $50) I seem to be stuck with it.

 "Good buy" 2008-02-20

We have the 23" version of the tv/dvd combo...and love it. The only issue we've found is not being able to program our cable tv remote to this tv...not compatible. We have to use 2 remotes (one to change channels and one for on/off and volume). Other than that, we are thrilled with our purchase. We've had the tv for 2 years now without a hitch.

 "Initial tv's getting a bad rap" 2008-01-06
By C. Sitka (Beautiful Sitka Alaska)
My wife and I own a 23" Initial LCD HDTV w/built in DVD player for our bedroom. We really enjoy it. The picture is clear, and I've never had any poblems with the DVD player. The one problem I had, however, is with the remote. I was told that the remote codes would never be compatible with US codes for some reason, and I took that for granted. One day, out of curiosity, I googled Initial TV remote codes. I found on Universal Remotes website a query engine, and I put in Initial. The results displayed "1990." I punched it in and voila! We now only have one remote in the bedroom. So try that code if you own Initial, it will work.

Back to the TV. My friend owns an electronics store in town, and he's had this 26" tv on display and playing for two years. It has always been rock solid and the picture is bright and clear. I use CC and what I like is you can remove the black from the captioning and view the CC with white letters only. I like the clean design and the speakers sound nice. I'm hard of hearing but I can hear the treble just fine. And it sounds good for bedroom use listening to DVD's or concerts at a lower volume.

Before you judge this brand please go somewhere where you can see it. I like the Initial brand and wish I got this one instead of the 37" Olevia we got. By the way, another weird thing: for some reason, because of the shape of the screen on Initial tv's, their pictures seem much larger than they actually are. I don't know what the difference is, but they look larger and the color and resolution are great.
