My wife bought this item from SAMS --not Amazon. This review is not a reflection of Amazon or SAMS---this Polaroid product worked well for about 1 year---you get what you pay for... the LCD was a very low quality resolution, then died after one year. Now we have a high priced CD player and AM/FM radio in our kitchen. :)

i bought FDM-07157 under the cabinet LCD TV in 2006 (DEC). from CIRCUIT CITY who did nothing when the screen went black in april 07. polaroid has the worst customer service i have ever dealt with. cant return it cant fix it. total waste of money!!

I have the earlier version of this same model (bought in Dec. 2005). I rarely use it - maybe 10 minutes a few mornings per week getting ready for work. The screen went black (actually there is some picture in the background as one other reviewer noted, but you can't make it out). Polaroid doesn't offer any repair service and doesn't refer to anyone. They offered to sell me a new one, but since they are on back order until the middle of next month, they couldn't even tell me what I'd have to pay. This is no way to do business! Imagine just throwing the whole thing out - a $200+ item! I hate to buy a different brand and have to make all new holes in the cabinet, but I guess I'll have to.

I can only hope that the issues with my model, FDM-0700A, are fixed with the "715" model.



As far as the 0700A goes-- my problems echo the other reviewers. The only thing further that I can add to illustrate the problem is that TECHNICALLY there is still an image on the screen (i.e. it's not truly BLACK). The problem is that there is not lighting behind it-- rendering it useless as a display device.



LUCKILY-- I always head to Amazon to look over product reviews on my mobile phone BEFORE making purchases. Once I saw the problems this unit had-- I for the very first time purchased a Sam's Club Service Plan for 1 year. Best decision I ever made on what was then (12/05) about a two hundred dollar purchase. I want to say that Sam's Club stands behind the products they sell-- even when companies like Polaroid will not. Even though technically my warranty had expired-- the history of problems here at Amazon led them to voluntarily honor my warranty and my claim.



It's rare to find good customer service stories these days-- or at least HEAR about them since happy folks are less likely to take the time to post GOOD CS stories. Hopefully I'm contributing to the trend here.

I just bought one of these tv's, it works great and looks great! I see others rant about bad customer service, but i've called them on a different polaroid product and they seemed very friendly and helpful. I've heard others say the same as well. The new management is improving this brand tremendously and i think they will be a market leader in not to long a time.
